Daniel Cook is a singer songwriter who fuses contagious melodies with timeless stories creating a fresh brand of Original West Coast Roots Music, and a guitarist who blends melody and minimalism into a sweet mix of jazz and country guitar traditions.
Victoria School of Irish Dance:
The Victoria school of Irish dance is home to both recreational and competitive dancers. Dancers in the school have found success in local, regional and international competitions. Dancers have had the opportunity to travel as far as Ireland, England, Scotland, Mexico, New York, Boston and Montreal, just to name a few.
Coastline is a string ensemble comprised of BC’s top young musicians ranging from ages 14-21, coached and mentored by internationally acclaimed fiddler, Ivonne Hernandez. This award-winning band has already been making a name for themselves since their inception in January, 2013. With fiddles, cellos, guitars and piano, the group of talented teens play a diverse and exciting repertoire. With intricate arrangements of traditional, original, and contemporary fiddle tunes from around the world, Coastline is pushing boundaries and always having a great time whenever they play.
Eden Oliver (West My Friend):
A song writer and multi-instrumentalist, Eden currently performs, records and tours nationally and internationally with her indie-prog-chamber-folk-roots group West My Friend while maintaining a busy schedule with teaching and other musical collaborations. Her work with West My Friend has garnered nominations for Vancouver Islands “Roots Album of the Year” and “Song of the Year” as well as a nomination in the Canadian Folk Music Award’s Oliver Schroer “Pushing the Boundaries” category. With “powerfully eclectic” vocals (Brad Edwards, Play in Victoria) and a song writing style deeply rooted in the west coast’s ramshackle collection of quirky folk, her musical narrative keeps your attention rapt.
Daniel Lapp is a world-renowned singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, teacher, archivist, band leader, sideman, producer, promoter and – no kidding – the list goes on. And like the true-blue Canadian he is, Daniel does it all with trademark energy and warmth. As a fiddler, jazz trumpeter and singer/songwriter, Daniel Lapp has played on over 100 albums and performed across Canada, United States, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Finland and Germany with some of the world’s most renowned Folk and Jazz musicians. Daniel is the winner of the B.C. Fiddle Championship and has appeared as a soloist with the CBC Chamber Orchestra as well as the Prince George, Victoria, and Vancouver Symphonies. A legendary force in Canada’s fiddle scene, in addition to his outstanding performing, Daniel has been musical mentor to hundreds of students—many of whom have gone on to successful careers in the music industry.
